Lecture: Illustrating New Architecture
Sunday, May 16th, 3pm
Members: $8, Non-members, $10
Frank Costantino will be presenting a lecture at MAA on Sunday, May 16, at 3 pm, about his unique profession. Co-Founder of an international illustration society, ASAI, and the recipient of its highest award, the 2008 Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize, Frank has completed numerous illustrations for a stellar list of notable architects and their architectural design projects around the world over the course of his career. His process for creating drawings and images of new designs for structures, will be explained with a step-by-step sequence of diverse projects in various media. By infusing his work with a vision and a life that is a deft combination of artistic and technical skills, Frank generates unusually arresting drawings and paintings for his clientele. Some examples of the final illustrations shown in the lecture will also be on exhibit at the mansion. In the words of Robert Campbell, Pulitzer Prize winning writer for the Boston Globe, Frank “is a world-class figure in his specialty.” This lecture will be a rare opportunity for glimpsing an insight into the workings of an illustrator’s methods.
