Rental Policies

We are in a neighborhood location, therefore outdoor activities must end by 10:00 pm; indoor music must end by 10:30 pm. All other activities need to end no later than 10:00 pm, with all equipment removed by 11:00 pm.

Use of the Steinway grand piano in the ballroom is allowed with the rental of the ballroom.

A function manager, designated by MAA, must be present at all times during the event. This is a separate fee at the rate of $15.00 an hour, payable at the end of the event. Function Managers are responsible for opening and closing the building; enforcing house policies; stocking and maintaining the restrooms and facilities of the house; insuring the safety and comfort of the Mansion, its contents and guests; walking through the house with caterer or lessee at conclusion of event. The lessee must also designate a person who the function manager can communicate with during the event.

The lessee will hold the MAA harmless from any liability arising out the lessee’s use of the premises. The lessee is liable for any damages done to the property, furnishings or artwork. The security deposit is fully refundable one week after the event provided there are no damages and the house is left in a reasonable and clean manner. The Function Manager will walk through the premises with the lessee at the conclusion of the event.

Artwork on exhibit may NOT be moved or rearranged. Furniture, rugs, lamps, etc. may be moved by lessee with advance approval and will be returned to its original position by the lessee.

Smoking is NOT allowed inside the Mansion. No fireplaces or candles may be lit. We have flameless votives available for purchase or rent.

Caterers

Caterers must be approved by the Marblehead Arts Association and have a copy of their liability insurance on file with the MAA. We have a list of suggested caterers.

Cash bars are not allowed and alcoholic refreshment is restricted to wine and beer.

Caterers may have access to the property two hours before the event and one hour after the event’s conclusion. This access time is included in the rental fee whether or not it is used.

At the conclusion of the event caterers or lessee must remove all trash from the premises that was generated by the event including all bottles and cans. Lessee is responsible for complete clean up when event is self-catered, including floors and trash. Furniture must be put back in its original spot at the end of the event.

Rental equipment may be delivered after 1:00 pm the day before the event and removed after 1:00 pm the day following the event.

Guests are not to throw rice, birdseed or confetti in the house or on the grounds. We do not have on-site parking. Street parking is allowed according to the restrictions of the Town of Marblehead. We are not handicapped accessible.
