& Pieces of Eight Fundraiser
November 19-December 24
Opening Reception: Sunday, November 20, 2:00-4:00 pm
Open to all MAA member artists in all media, the traditional MAA Winter Member Exhibit took on a local theme. With an eye towards inspiring our artists, it was intended to excite art collectors as well. Marbleheaders and neighbors alike, love viewing and buying images of Marblehead sites and scenes. With over 100 pieces on show, the MAA artist membership interpreted special spots in Marblehead with great diversity. Although this exhibit was not judged for prizes, a popular vote was encouraged with People’s Choice ballots for visitors to fill in with their favorite piece. On December 20, the People’s Choice Award was announced. Kristen Nyberg won with her oil painting on birch panel, titled, House.
“This piece is reminiscent of an Edward Hopper painting with it’s pure colors and nocturnal angle shot. The back of the pizza chef seen through the window draws the viewer into the interior of the warm pizza joint that has served headers for generations.” – Betsy Hundahl, Associate Director.
Pieces of Eight Fundraiser Exhibit
Back by popular demand for the second year running, this exhibit is an offshoot of the traditional “Hooper’s Treasures” exhibit! It presents affordable small works at a uniform size and pricing for holiday gift giving.
This fundraiser is designed to benefit not only the MAA but also the artists themselves with a 50/50 commission. This exhibit hangs as an installation which forms one continuous grid-like frieze of art to be viewed together or separately.
All pieces are priced at $150 (photographs at $75). To encourage sales, there were two flash sale days announced that reduced prices to $100 ea. (photographs at $50).
